Physiotherapy is not only about the treatment of diseases/disabilities, but it has become an essential part of a healthy lifestyle. Everyone wants to be physically fit, mentally as well as socially physiotherapist also provides a place for all of them.
The first practice of physiotherapy began in the 18th century. Mr. Heinrich Ling began practicing physiotherapy in Sweden in 1813. He is called “father of Swedish physics”. After several years of practice, he founded the Royal Central Institute of Gymnastics. At that institute, he was mainly focused on massage, exercise and manipulation. After that in 1887, the physiotherapist was officially registered by Sweden’s National Health and Welfare Board. Other countries followed soon.
In the following years, different methods and other techniques developed in the field of physiotherapy. In the 19th century, modern physiotherapy was established in Britain. Soon in other countries, people started the practice of physiotherapy. During the first World War role of physiotherapy, much emphasis was placed. Women were recruited for the rehabilitation of injured soldiers. And then the Physiotherapy area became famous all over the world.
